It opens up a whole new world of customization and playstyles, but there is still some limitation based on alignment for Force-using characters. This means a Bounty Hunter can use a sniper rifle, or a Jedi Knight can use the healing abilities that were only available to Jedi Councilors. The new system will allow players to choose their Origin, or narrative background, for their character and then select from a Combat Style among a much larger set of options to determine how the character plays. As a result, classes and Advanced Classes are being replaced with Origins and Combat Styles. Though each of these Advanced Classes has different options, players are still limited by their initial Class choice.

For example, a Jedi Knight has two Advanced Classes: Jedi Guardian and Jedi Sentinal. As the game stands, a player's class determines what combat options they have available to them. Some of the most significant changes coming with Legacy of the Sith are how Classes and gameplay come together. Despite his expertise in logistics, the BioWare team described him as a "ruthless fighter, renowned for having never lost a lightsaber duel." He's a logistics master trying to exact his control over Manaan and its Kolto by any means possible. He's overseeing the invasion on Manaan and will work with Imperial players to complete his mission. Colonel Korrd is an Imperial companion who's all about getting the job done as efficiently as possible. Gallo is a Selkath hesitant to trust either the Empire or the Republic but finds themselves needing to work with the Republic as her home is destroyed. Some new faces appearing alongside Legacy of the Sith are Colonel Gallo, Colonel Korrd and Darth Norok. Additionally, all players will find themselves working with Lana Beniko, a fan favorite Sith Lord that's worked with players before on several occasions. On the Empire side, the Twi'lek leader of Raven Squad, Commander Anri, will appear alongside players during the war for Manaan in addition to Darth Rivix, who acts as a liaison to the greater Empire. When the conflict on Manaan kicks off, Arn is there and the first to raise the alarm.

For Republic players, they'll run into both Tau Idair and Arn Peralun, returning Jedi and Padawan duo - though players will soon learn that Arn's graduated to full-blown Jedi Knight. In addition to Darth Malgus, players can expect to see several other familiar faces in Legacy of the Sith.
